Animal Yoga

A very special thank you to Taryn Griggs for coming to preschool today to do animal yoga with our four year old classes for our study on farm animals. We loved learning more about yoga and how animals move. We really enjoyed your visit and cannot wait until next time.

Fall is Here!

We are already one month into preschool!  Our year is going fantastic so far!  Thank you to all of our wonderful parents and families for helping make the beginning of this school year such a smooth transition.

Please remember, we will have our 3rd annual Fall Open House/Art Exhibit/Auction on Thursday, November 10th.  We are currently collecting donations for our themed auction baskets.  If you or someone you know can donate an item, we would really appreciate it!  We will be having  Disney, Car Wash, School Supplies and Movie Night themed baskets.  Thank you as always for your continued support of our preschool!   We look forward to seeing all of our preschool and church families at our fall open house!

Our three and four year old classes have field trips coming up this month.  Our 4 year old children will be walking to the fire department on Monday, 10/3 and traveling to Patterson Farm on Friday, 10/21.  Our 3 year old children will be going to Rescue Ranch on Monday, 10/17.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support of FPC Preschool and I look forward to seeing everyone soon!

Welcome Back!

Hello FPC Preschool Families!

I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer.  We are excited about the 2016-2017 school year at First Presbyterian Church Preschool!  We are thrilled to welcome many new families to our preschool this year and we would like to welcome back all of our returning families.  It is going to be another exciting year at FPC Preschool as we continue our Kindermusik@school program with Mrs. Gina Terry and our Letterland child-friendly phonics program, both school-wide.

I would like to start off by introducing myself to new families.  My name is Falon Speaks and I officially took over the Preschool Director role in July 2014.  I grew up in Statesville, NC and attended Statesville Senior High School.  I completed my BA in Communication Studies and Journalism from UNC Charlotte in 2006.  I worked in non-profit for four years and then returned to UNC Charlotte to obtain my Master’s Degree in Education.  I taught Kindergarten in Iredell-Statesville Schools for two years and then took a year off to stay at home with my daughter.  My family and I are members of First Presbyterian Church and we live in downtown Statesville.  My husband’s name is Clay and we have a 4 year-old daughter, Harper, who attends FPC Preschool.  We have a 9 year-old black lab named CJ.  I feel very honored and blessed to have been led to this role and to be a part of the FPC Preschool family.  Our preschool was founded in the fall of 1965, and two years ago we celebrated our 50th anniversary in which we have continued to have a happy and fulfilling relationship with the community and with our preschool families.

This year’s Open House will be Wednesday, August 31st, from 6:00-7:00.  You may drop by at your convenience to visit your child’s classroom, meet their teachers and pick up your handbook and other forms.  Class rosters will be posted as you enter, and I will be available to introduce myself and to answer any questions or concerns that you may have.

September tuition is due by August 15th in order to secure your child’s place in our preschool.  Please pay promptly so that classes can be adjusted accordingly before school starts.  Attached are the monthly tuition rates for each class.  Payments may be sent to First Presbyterian Preschool, 125 N. Meeting Street, Statesville, NC 28677, dropped by the church office or preschool drop box or paid online through our website (if paying by online, debit or credit, please note our new policy on the tuition page of this website).  Please mark your child’s name on the check (or in the note box online), and make it payable to FPC Preschool.  Our first day(s) of school will be Tuesday, September 6th and/or Wednesday, September 7th.

I believe that communication is key to your child’s success and to a great parent/school relationship.  It is the goal of our preschool for your child to have a successful year here at FPC Preschool and to create an environment that will foster an interest in learning and help each child grow socially, academically and spiritually.  I encourage you to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have at any time throughout the year.  I will also do my part by sending home a monthly school newsletter to keep you up to date on all of the exciting things we are doing.

I look forward to seeing you soon and beginning our preschool adventure with your child, and family.

 To Many Happy Days,

Falon C. Speaks, Director

Happy New Year!

January is here and we are ready for the second half of our preschool year!  We hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year!   We were very excited to get all of our children back in the classrooms and they definitely came back ready to hit the ground running!   There has been a lot of excitement around here and we love that.  Speaking of excitement...it is already time to start thinking about registration for the 2016-2017 preschool year here at FPC!  Can you believe it?

We will open registration to existing preschool students and families on Tuesday, March 1st.  As you know, you will get first priority when registering your child for next year.  Beginning on Monday, March 14th we will open registration to the general public. PLEASE keep this in mind when planning the next few months.  We anticipate a big year at FPC Preschool next year since we are currently on a wait list for a few of our classes this year already.  If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know and look for registration information to come home with your child soon.  Happy New Year to all of our preschool families!

Fall Is Here

Our 2015-2016 school year is well underway.  We are so excited about all of our new and returning preschool families.  Open enrollment is now closed and we are on a wait list for several classes.  2016-2017 registration will open in March 2016.  If you or someone you know is interested in joining our FPC Preschool family, please encourage them to take a tour and then contact me early in the new year to get registration information.  Our Kindermusik@school ABC Music & Me classes are now underway and the children are loving it!  Make sure and stay up to date with your FREE @home digital materials so your child can show you everything they are learning with Mrs. Gina in class.  Our Letterland is also started in ALL classrooms on a developmentally appropriate level.  I am hearing lots of excited chatter from the children in the classrooms and hallways about the new Letterland characters!  Please visit our Letterland page on our website so you can familiarize yourself with this program and the characters so you can ask your child about what they are learning at school!  Our 3 and 4 year old children will be taking field trips in October.  Please review our field trip policies in our preschool handbook to familiarize yourself with policies and procedures before your child's trip.  Remember that your child will not be coming to preschool on a regular schedule that day, but instead you both will be meeting us at our field trip location.  Also, our fall school pictures will be happening on Monday, October 12th and Tuesday, October 13th.  Please look for more information coming home with your child regarding both field trips and picture day!
